Vintage Rugs

A vintage style rug uses traditional or oriental patterns in muted colours. These are new rugs designed in a vintage style.

In living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and entryways. A muted pattern mixes easily with modern pieces and with classic furniture.

Choose a size that lets the front legs of the sofa and chairs rest on the rug, usually 8x10 or 9x12. For a hallway, a runner of 2x8 or longer suits most spaces. Size names are rounded, so check the actual size shown under Size on each rug.

A pad keeps a vintage style rug flat in a living room or hallway and stops it from sliding on hardwood, laminate and tile. Choose a pad about 1 inch smaller than the rug on every side so the edges stay hidden; the sizes are listed in our rug pad collection.

Both use classic patterns such as medallions and florals. A vintage style rug usually has a more muted colour palette, and a traditional rug often uses richer reds, blues and creams.
