What size is an 8x10 rug?
8x10 is the size name for a rug of about 8 by 10 feet. The actual size is shown under Size on each rug and can be a few inches smaller. It is one of the most popular large rug sizes because it covers a full seating area or sleeping area without filling the whole room. Our full 8x10 rug size guide shows where each size fits.
What room is an 8x10 rug good for?
In a living room, an 8x10 lets the front legs of the sofa and chairs rest on the rug. In a bedroom, it sits under a queen or king bed with room to step onto the rug on both sides. In a dining room, it suits a table up to about 4 by 6 feet with the chairs staying on the rug when pulled out.
How much floor should show around an 8x10 rug?
Leave about 12 to 18 inches of bare floor between the rug and the walls in most rooms. Use our guide to measuring for an area rug to check your own room before you choose.
Do I need a rug pad under an 8x10?
A pad keeps a large rug from sliding and adds cushion underfoot. Choose one a little smaller than the rug from our rug pad collection.
