How to choose an entryway rug
An entryway rug should fit the space without blocking the door. Measure the width and length of the entrance and leave a few inches of bare floor at the walls. Size names are rounded, so check the actual size shown under Size on each rug.
What size entryway rug do I need?
A 2x3 or 3x5 suits a front door or a small foyer, and a runner of 2x6 or longer suits a hallway. Choose a rug a little narrower than the door opening. See our entryway rug guide and runners for narrow hallways, or browse all runner rugs.
Which pattern suits an entrance?
A pattern or a mid to darker tone hides the marks of everyday traffic better than a plain light rug.
Do I need a rug pad?
A rug pad keeps a small rug from sliding when people step on it. Choose one slightly smaller than the rug.
