Pick one or two colours already in your room and choose a rug that repeats or contrasts with them. Neutral rugs go with most rooms, and a bold colour gives the room a focal point.

Cream, beige and grey go with almost everything, and mid tone or patterned rugs hide marks better than plain light colours.

Size names are rounded, so check the actual size shown under Size on each rug. In a living room, the front legs of the sofa and chairs should rest on the rug.

Pick a rug in a colour already in the room, or one that sits next to your sofa colour: cream or grey with a navy sofa, blue or green with a beige sofa. A pattern with two or three colours is the easiest match.

Cream, grey, blue, green and rust all work with wood floors. A rug in a tone different from the floor keeps the floor and the rug from blending together.
