How to choose a runner rug
Measure the hallway or kitchen run, then leave a few inches of bare floor on each side and at both ends. In a hallway, a runner usually stops about 4 to 6 inches from the walls. In a kitchen, centre it in front of the sink and counters.
What size runner for a hallway?
Most hallways take a 2x8 or 2x10 runner; long hallways may need a 2x13 to 2x20.
How do I keep a runner from slipping?
Use a non slip rug pad cut to size. See also our guide on how to stop a rug from slipping.
Can I match a runner to my area rug?
Yes. Most runners here come from rug designs that are also sold in room sizes.
Frequently asked questions
What size runner rug do I need for a hallway?
Most hallways take a 2x8 or 2x10 runner, and long hallways may need a 2x13 to 2x20. Leave about 4 to 6 inches of bare floor from the walls and at both ends. Size names are rounded, so check the actual size under Size on each rug.
How do I keep a runner from slipping?
Use a non slip rug pad cut slightly smaller than the runner. A pad keeps it flat on hardwood, tile and laminate, and stops the corners from curling.
Can I use a runner in the kitchen?
Yes. Place it in front of the sink and counters, centred in the work area, with a low pile so it is easy to walk on and to vacuum.
Can I match a runner to my area rug?
Yes. Many runners here come from designs that are also sold in room sizes, so you can match a hallway runner to the living room rug.
How do I clean a runner rug?
Vacuum regularly and check the care label on your rug before cleaning. For spills, blot with a clean cloth and follow the cleaning method on the label.
Where can I find shipping and returns details?
Shipping and returns details are on our shipping policy and returns policy pages, and the rules can differ by country and by item. Read them before you order, and contact us if you have a question.
