Modern washers have recommended load capacities. Check the chart below to see if your rug is compatible with your washing machine.

For front-load and top-load machines with an agitator, these are the minimum size requirements. If your top-load machine lacks an agitator, subtract 0.4 Cu. Ft. from the minimum sizes listed above.

Next, enter the model number into a search engine to check its load capacity.

Find your washing machine's model number

Front Load Washer

  1. Inside the door
  2. Door frame
  3. Front exterior
  4. Either side of the unit
  5. Back exterior

Top Loading Washer

1. Under the lid, located on the frame, back of the tub opening, or the lid itself.

2. On the control panel.

3. On both the front and back of the exterior.

4. Positioned on an interior wall.

5. Placed on the sides of the exterior.

Washer & Dryer Combo

Positioned at the top of the front of the unit.

Located inside the dryer door.

Found on the door frame.

Located under the washer lid (inside the door on front-loading washers).

Positioned on either side of the exterior, at the base of the unit.

The Model Number

It is usually found on a paper sticker or a metal plate. Be sure to note all the numbers and letters listed next to the model number.
